What ScrubRep is, and how we work

ScrubRep helps individuals remove false, defamatory and outdated content from search results, clean up exposed personal data, and exercise their data-protection rights. Here is how we approach the work, and the lines we will not cross.

Most people who come to us are dealing with a single page, or a handful of them, that decide how they are seen the moment someone searches their name. Sometimes it is a story that was never true. Sometimes it was true once but has long since been resolved, dropped or retracted, and now follows them around for no good reason. Sometimes it is personal data they never agreed to publish. Our job is to deal with that content properly and quietly.

The grounds we work from

We do not have a magic button, and we do not pretend to. What we have is a working knowledge of the routes that actually exist. Content can be removed at the source when a publisher agrees, or when it is unlawful. It can be de-indexed from search under the Right to Be Forgotten and similar data-protection rights when it is inaccurate, outdated, excessive or no longer in the public interest. It can be challenged through defamation, privacy and copyright law when it crosses those lines. And when none of that applies, it can sometimes be pushed down the results through suppression. Every case starts with working out which of these fits, because using the wrong route wastes time and money.

What we will not take on

We do not remove truthful information that is genuinely in the public interest. We do not help bury accurate reporting on matters people have a real right to know about, and we do not touch content involving the kind of public-interest reporting that exists for a reason. If your case is really an attempt to hide something the public is entitled to see, we are not the right service, and we will tell you so plainly rather than take your money.

Why we stay discreet

Confidentiality is not a marketing line here, it is the structure of the service. People dealing with a reputation problem rarely want a second party to know they sought help fixing it, and a removal effort that becomes public can draw more attention to the very content it was meant to bury. So we keep cases to the smallest possible footprint: contact by email, no account to create, no third-party logins, and payment in stablecoins so there is no ordinary financial trail tying you to the work. The less that exists about your case, the safer your case is.

How an engagement runs

It is deliberately simple. You send the links, or just your name, to scrubrep@proton.me or through the form on our homepage. We look at the content for free and tell you honestly what can realistically be done, then quote a single fixed price with no retainers and no surprises. Only if you agree does any work or payment happen. As results come through you get confirmation, and the whole thing stays between us.

An honest word on outcomes

Removal is never guaranteed, and anyone who promises otherwise is not being straight with you. Outcomes depend on the content, where it is hosted, the law that applies and how willing the other side is to cooperate. What we promise instead is a realistic read before you spend anything, careful work within the law, and no inflated claims. That honesty is the whole point of how we operate.
